Why did we move?

Well, this is a loaded question! The old list host was horrible. It was frozen for over 8 months. I hoped things would improve and the host kept promising to fix it, but nothing happened. There was a choice to be made: keep the list, but let it be "frozen" forever, or move somewhere new.

On a bright note, this top site server is a lot better and has much better features. It also allows me to set up helpers, so I'm not the only one approving sites. I look forward to working with this new host.

I already have an account with the old Top 50. Do I need to sign up again?

Unfortunately, yes. I cannot carry over accounts to the new list.

I just joined, why is my account not yet activated?

All sites must be approved by a staff member before entering the list. This prevents sites from joining that do not meet the rules, or are not Lion King themed.

Why was my site declined, or my account deactivated?

Either your site did not meet the rules, was not Lion King themed, or it was not kid friendly.

I don't have a site. Can I still join in the message boards?

No. This is a top 50 service. Only members with valid sites can join. Still looking for a message board to chat in? Check out The Lion King Pride Forum at: http://lkpride.proboards41.com/

What happened to "the site of the moment"

This is no longer an available feature. It might become available in the future, I'm not sure. This is a new server.

What if I have more than one site?

Then you need an account/username for each site you want to show up in the list. They must be unique usernames.

New FAQ's:

I keep trying to submit my registration form, and it gives me an error message. Why?

A new feature has recently been added to prevent people from joining that do not have a website. Again, this is one of the already mentioned rules.

The main page looks a bit different...what's going on?

Due to the recent increase in members joining without a site, or with an inappropriate site, I've placed a new section with the rules on it. You can still view them in the forums, but it seemed easier to have everything there where they can be seen.

I don't have a site. Where can I go to make one?

If you have experience with HTML coding and FTP uploading, the best free host out there for Lion King sites is http://www.lionking.org
If you don't know HTML and would like to learn, check out my tutorials at http://www.geocities.com/lynsresources/
If you're a newbie, and prefer a simplified way of making a page without learning HTML, email Lyn at knarrly@hotmail.com for a list of hosts with online drag-and-drop editors. Once you've made your page, come on back and join the list!

You mentioned "staff". Who are staff members, and how can I become one?

I will be getting the concept of staff going shortly. Staff members will be able to activate or delete new/pending members, moderate in the forums, and post in the "locked" FAQ areas. They will also be around to answer questions if anyone needs it. If you have any experience with forums, or are willing to learn how to do this, email me at knarrly@hotmail.com or drop me a private message by clicking the button by my information.

On the application, it has an area to put a button or banner. Where do I get one?

You have to either already have your own, or make one. You don't have to do this during the application process. If you don't have one right away, don't worry! You can always add one later. Simply log in when you do have one, and upload it then. Not image friendly? Then post what you are looking to get in the "Graphic/Banner Help" area of the forums. One of the staff or volunteers will swing by to see if they can help you out.

I entered the address where by banner/button is located on my site, and the image is "broken". Why?

Some hosts do not allow what is called "remote image loading". What this means is you can see your pictures when thay are used on your site, but you cannot see them when you try to place the image somewhere else. This is how a lot of hosts try to save money on bandwidth. Yahoo! GeoCities is famous for this, as well as a lot of other "free" hosts. (You get what you pay for...) However, if you have the button or banner on your hard drive, you can use the upload utility on the application instead and load it directly to this server, where it will stay until you replace it.

More FAQ's

Why is my vote count at 0?

You need to place a vote button on your site to let people vote for you, or you will forever be at zero.

How do I get a vote/link button?

On the main page of the list, there is a link to get the code for your site. It's on the left hand site.

What are the updates on the "staff"?

As of right now, the moderators will only be able to help out in the forums. I am told, however, that the host for this list will allow moderators list maintenance features in the very near future. Hang in there!

I've had my account for a little while, and it's now gone. What happened?

We recently went through all the member sites. Any that were no longer active were deleted. Also, any site that no longer has a Lion King theme was deleted as well. As per the rules, you must have a Lion King themed site to be a member.
